Choosing Anyway Print

A print size of your choosing on canvas paper or stretched over bars ready to hang

The story behind the artwork

This piece began without a fixed direction, unfolding slowly through instinct as each mark responded to the brushstroke before. It draws on the idea of yin and yang, light existing within darkness. Each element only fully understood through the presence of the other.

In the same way, the process mirrors the act of making choices while painting - moving forward without full certainty and allowing one step to shape the next. The artwork reflects the bigger choices we make in life and the relief we feel once we have a sense of direction to move forward. This piece asks you to stay with your decision long enough to shape it into something meaningful.

Visual elements
The figure is only partially revealed, as if caught in a moment of hesitation. This sense of pause reflects the tension of choosing. The layered paint blending with earlier brushstrokes create depth and movement, echoing the uncertainty that sits within the act of deciding.
Meaning and intent

At its core, this painting reflects the act of making and decision and choosing to stand by it. We are often overwhelmed by options and choices, weighing what feels right against what is uncertain.

This work suggests that making the right choice is built through commitment. A decision becomes right because we choose to trust ourselves and move forward even when doubt remains.
