Ideal for interiors that lean into softness but still hold depth, this piece carries an undeniable presence within a room. Every brushstroke, adjustment and shift in colour sits in the surface. Having this in your space serves as a daily reminder that not everything needs to be fully resolved to be meaningful. It is something to return to on the days you need grounding, to trust what is still unfolding.

Beauty in the Chaos

Trusting the process of becoming

The Story Behind the Artwork

There is a sense of magic at the start of a new creative project. ‘Beauty in the Chaos’ sits within this moment where nothing is fully formed, capturing the uncertainty and excitement that comes with stepping into the unknown.

It began with a shift, moving away from what felt familiar and allowing the painting to develop in a new direction. The piece evolved through response within each layer, each brushstrokes adjusts to the last and blends with new colours.

The painting reflects the development of continuous restructuring overtime. What remains consistent was the decision to continue the piece, that shift from hesitation to curiosity sits at the core of the work

Visual elements

The figure is constructed through visible layering, interruption and reworking of the paint. The composition retains the evidence of decision making, allowing the process itself to remain part of the final piece.

The palette creates a clear tension within the work. Unfamiliar colour combinations are introduced without certainty, reinforcing the instability within the composition. Dark weighted tones sit against warmer ochres and soft creams. These contrasts give the body a sense of both structure and fluidity. the lack of resolution is international, holding the painting in a state of becoming rather than completion.

A ladder-like sequence of brushstrokes, visible in the grey section across her stomach, reflects the way the work develops through interaction, where each mark builds on the last, shaping the thought process behind it.

Meaning and intent

The composition retains the evidence of decision making, allowing the process itself to remain part of the final piece.

This work is rooted in the idea that creativity depends on a tolerance for ambiguity. The ability to remain in a space where nothing is fully resolved, long enough for something new to emerge when the paint dries.

The final piece is the result of staying within that uncertain stage and allowing it to unfold. The painting holds a state of becoming, where the process is what we focus on. It shows the experiences and actions that formed the piece.

What remains is the trace of that commitment: to continue without certainty and to trust that something would emerge. The surface of the painting holds the process in a way that can't be replicated. Each brushstroke, blend and splatter is the result of a specific moment of interaction, where timing, pressure and movement come together.
